We knew we wanted a combination spa/pool but had limited space and wanted to work with a landscaper as well during the construction. None of the other pool companies responded back in all aspects as well as Tropical – they stood out significantly. Regan was very helpful throughout the design process and offered great ideas for the layout. Coordination between the contractors worked out fine and their work complimented each other very well. Curtis is a hands-on chief, manning the bobcat as well as being responsive to all requests we made. I couldn’t ask for a better team to work with. Laura was also helpful in coordinating the work from beginning to end. Gary provided all the details necessary on maintaining the pool in an easy manner. Our family and friends have raved over the results – the back area has transformed from a dirt pile to an oasis. Tropical Pools is tops!

Seeing is believing and “seeing” the outcome of our dream pool/deck come to life was pure joy! Throughout every phase of the construction, Curtis and the team consistently communicated each step of the project and kept me apprised of the progress. The Tropical Pools and Pavers team started construction on March 18th and completed the entire renovation by April 26th. My wife and I are extremely happy with our new investment, but we believe our grandchildren’s joy eclipses ours when they are playing in the new pool. Our experience with Curtis Larson could not have been any better. Curtis was referred to us by a neighbor and we engaged him for a quote and to review some basic plans regarding our first pool project. My wife and I did not know what to expect, and Curtis made the process seemless from day 1. He quickly reviewed our initial plans and submitted his own recommendations with terrific graphics and precision. His timelines were dead on, and the project would have been totally completed in 30 days if it weren’t for a 1 week delay on a set back issue outside of his control.

When you are investing tens of thousands of dollars in building a pool, you better be really careful about whom you choose to build it. We did a lot of research and had several pool builders give us ideas and quotes on our new pool. It was apparent from our first contact with Curtis that he was going to be our choice. He had a reasonable quote with renderings of the pool for us the very next day. I wanted a pool to swim laps to train for triathlons and my husband wanted a free form pool to float in and have great pool parties. Curtis was creative enough to come up with a beautiful and affordable solution. We’ve never had a pool, so we had many questions about the seemingly endless options for materials and equipment. I wish I could really express how grateful I am that I hired this company. I’m thrilled with what they have done for us. Our pool is more gorgeous than I imagined it could be. Our sales person, Jon, was very honest. We met with 6 other companies and when I started asking about some features we wanted for our pool, he was less expensive and explained what it costs them to install that feature and what they made off it. The honesty was refreshing after all the other  salesmen I spoke to. He also explained that we needed a special line put in for the cleaner we wanted, that none of the other salesmen mentioned which made me feel like I could trust that he really knew what he was talking about. The plans, pricing, contract all went seamlessly. We knew we were in line behind other builds. When our time came to start, men were here at 8am each morning that they were suppose to work I was never chasing down “when will you be here”. The man who runs the build, Curtis, was awesome! He answered all my millions of questions along the way. He never tried to nickel and dime me, which I’d heard stories about other companies doing and was worried about. Everything went off without a hitch. Our job was particularly complicated because our yard is large and the house is old, 1928, with lots of strange complications. The rocked it. The pavers are beautiful! The sales person, Jon did warn me that if I went with a particular paver company I had picked out that they take a little longer., he was right but in the end it was worth it. I also used their paver guy, Junior, to seal out pavers after. I’m so happy with the outcome and how they took care of us…I’d recommend them to anyone.

We wanted a pool. We got a work of art. That may sound like an exaggeration until you see our pool. For quite some time a pool seemed like a pipe dream. Four builders responded to our inquiries and all indications were the pool would remain a pipe dream. Then we met Ronnie. Less than 24 hours after giving him an extremely vague idea of what we wanted Ronnie had a complete design and price break down of every detail. The permit was issued late on a Thursday afternoon. Talk about patient! My wife and I asked Ronnie to draw up a pool about 10 months ago. After multiple revisions, additions, deletions and other requests my wife and I finally got the pool built. Ronnie was EXCEPTIONALLY patient with us, was never frustrated and completed each request promptly. Even during some of the “down time” when we were thinking about the project, Ronnie was never pushy or rude. When we did build the pool the service was top-notch. The pool was completed faster than expected and the quality is excellent. I would recommend this company to anyone wanting to build a pool. Small enough to have a personal touch and relationship but large enough to have all the resources at the right price!!

Our pool was recently completed by Ronnie, it turned out better than what we expected which was a real positive given the big investment we were making in a pool. During the process we dealt with Ronnie who was always comfortable to deal with because of his open honest communication, delivery on promises and being available to answer questions 24/7. We were able to picture what were getting at the outset and that is exactly what we got (with a few addition surprises like a better expected water feature, small ledges added in the deep end of the pool that my 3 & 6 year olds spend most of the time swimming between, excellent colour co-ordination, help in maintaining pool post construction, etc.) all within 26 days from breaking ground with no issues and nothing negative to say. At the outset we were a little disappointed with the initial responsiveness of other pool companies who took days to respond to quote requests, negative reviews, longer than expected completion dates, large upfront deposits and having to deal with salesmen as opposed to the owner of the company. We are extremely happy with our pool and would not change anything – for me the most important decision was selecting the right pool builder. Curtis was in charge of installing our pool almost 16 years ago. In all that time, we have never experienced any problems with our beautiful pool, with natural stone walls and waterfalls. There is no higher recommendation I can give than to trust his company to build your pool.

When undertaking a project as big as building a pool from scratch, we could only hope to survive the stress. Those feelings became totally unfounded from the moment of our first meeting with Ronnie Larson of Tropical. Every single step from that first meeting – design, scheduling, construction was stress free. Curtis Larson, who oversaw the build was always available for questions and followed up immediately on any changes that we may have thrown at him. Every single group that was involved – digging, shaping, pavers, stonework, pebbletec, whatever were prompt, friendly and great to work with. My pool was built back in 2016. At the time Curtis and his staff made sure I was satisfied with all aspects of the design of my pool. The waterfall is unique and awesome.

Recently I had an issue with a section of the pavers that were mysteriously separating. I sent them pictures of the problem and within a reasonable time Curtis sent his employee, Kyle, who fixed the problem promptly and efficiently. Tropical pools builds a great pool and has fantastic customer service. I had a minor issue with my pool one year later and Curtis came out and fixed it with no charge and no worry! They are a company you can trust and they build a great pool.

Curtis Larson and his company are outstanding. We started the process of getting pool estimates in November 2011, and quickly became very disheartened with the industry. We had a set budget, and every pool company we spoke to would completely ignore our budget, and if they even got back to us, would give us an estimate in excess of 25% above our budget. We also had an easement issue that needed to be resolved.

Curtis listened to our wants and needs, and came up with a product that not only fit our budget, but also gave us more bang for the buck. Then came the 15month wait while we worked on getting the easement vacated. Curtis and company were nothing but patient. Laura in the office was a pleasure to work with and ensured all the T’s were crossed, and I’s were dotted. Were were pleasantly surprised to see Curtis at the Pinellas Board of Commissioners hearing we had to attend to have the easement vacated – great moral support.

Once were had the go ahead, the pool was completed within 4 weeks of breaking ground. Everyone who worked on the pool were courteous and polite (we have a 4 yr old and construction sites often have some colorful language), and did their jobs well.
